Seibels House and Garden

Located in the heart of downtown Columbia’s historic district lies one of the city’s most popular venues for wedding festivities, corporate meetings, holiday parties, and other special occasions. Possibly the oldest house in Columbia, the Seibels House has stood for over 200 years as the epitome of gracious southern hospitality that transforms special occasions into historic events. With its vintage charm, the Seibels House has been providing unique and memorable experiences since the grand balls and country fairs of the nineteenth century.

The house dates from approximately 1796. Due to a succession of owners throughout the centuries, the Seibels House today is a pleasing blend of several architectural styles. Doric columns, supporting a piazza stretching the entire length of the building, dominate its front facade. The interior is accentuated by Colonial Revival details including molding and medallions that enhance the building’s rooms and foyer. A sun porch, added in the 1920s, offers grand views of the garden.

The house was donated to the Historic Columbia Foundation in 1984 and converted into office and rental space. The Seibels House provides a warm, intimate atmosphere for large or small groups in one of Columbia’s most treasured and historic structures.

• Accommodates 150 standing or 80 seated inside; up to 250 in the gardens
• First floor and gardens available only
• Chairs and tables available for interior use only
• Prep kitchen available
