1521 Laurel Street
Edgar O. Black, president of the Equitable Building and Loan Company, had this Neoclassical mansion constructed in 1912. Black used the basement to run a one-man bank, and he later subdivided much of the home into apartments. Purchasing the house from the family in 1999, owners Ted and Danielle Deary, who also run their offices here, later received the Historic Columbia Foundation Preservation Award for Adaptive Reuse.
