From the Desk of the
Executive Director
We have been closely monitoring the news, community updates, and communications regarding COVID-19.
I’d like to provide an update to you on what actions Historic Columbia is taking in light of the latest announcements from our administration and with the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of our event attendees, staff, and community.
We have decided to postpone the following events through April 4, 2020: 16th Annual Bluegrass, Bidding and BBQ (March 19), City of Women Research Roundtable (March 24), City of Women Saturday Roll Bus Tour (March 28) and Closing Day at Capital City Stadium (April 4).
If you have purchased tickets to these events, Historic Columbia will honor all purchases once the event has been rescheduled. If it’s decided an event will not be rescheduled, a full refund will be issued.
Once new dates are announced, you will be the first to hear, and we hope to celebrate these Historic Columbia initiatives with you soon!
Separately, our house museums will remain open at this time. We are taking several steps to ensure enhanced sanitation safety:
- Temporarily remove hands-on visitor interactive items
- Implement a more rigorous protocol for cleaning all touch screens
- Increase the number of sanitation stations across all house museums
- Increase the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting across all sites.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team.
For more information on the virus and precautionary measures in place, please visit the CDC’s website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
Stay safe and we’ll see you soon!
