Tour begins at the State House : 1100 Gervais Street, Columbia, SC 29201
Explore Main Street with Historic Columbia on Sunday, December 9 during our Weekend Strolls and Rolls program presented by Seed Architecture.
Offering more than 150 years of architectural trends, Columbia's Main Street is a physical legacy of its citizens' aspiration and accomplishments. See the city's oldest "skyscraper," an IBM-punch-card-inspired office building and the State Capitol. Walk through Columbia's first indoor shopping mall and learn how an old department store became an art museum.
The tour will meet and begin at the State House. Space is limited.

Established in 1842, Arsenal Hill became a desirable residential area for white elites during the antebellum era and then for middle- and working-class Black residents during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Participants will learn how these residences, combined with spiritual, educational, and governmental institutions, resulted in an eclectic mix of architecture and dynamic community histories.
